AI citation monitoring

Understand which sources appear in AI answers—and where the evidence is thin.

AI citations are the domains and individual pages an AI system identifies as supporting an answer. Monitoring them helps teams investigate source coverage, competitor evidence, and gaps in the public information available about a company.

Kojable is an AI answer alignment platform. Citation intelligence supports diagnosis, but an observed citation does not prove that a source caused an answer.

Interpretation

A citation is not the same as a recommendation

A source can appear while the company is absent, framed negatively, described generically, or compared unfavourably. Conversely, some answers mention or recommend companies without exposing a complete citation trail.

Kojable therefore analyses citation presence alongside the answer itself: what was claimed, which company appeared, how competitors were framed, and whether the cited evidence actually supports accurate representation.

Analysis

Move from a source list to an investigation plan

  1. Map source domains and pages

Separate recurring domains from the exact pages cited for each topic and question.

  2. Compare competitor coverage

Identify where competitors have relevant third-party or owned evidence that the company lacks.

  3. Find evidence gaps

Look for missing claims, unclear proof, weak source diversity, outdated material, or absent pages for high-intent questions.

  4. Classify what is actionable

Distinguish owned pages, realistic third-party opportunities, authoritative references, and sources the company cannot or should not try to influence.

  5. Retest without overstating causation

Compare later answers and citation patterns while preserving the distinction between an observed association and a proven cause.

Responsible use

Use patterns as evidence for investigation, not certainty

AI systems can retrieve, summarise, and cite differently across platforms and over time. Citation monitoring cannot guarantee future citations, prove model preference, or establish the exact causal path behind an answer.

Its value is practical: show where evidence repeatedly appears, where the company is missing, and which gaps deserve closer review.
